Geen Idee, Ik vraag me af in welk segment van de markt Ashdown zich probeert te vestigen. Op zich vind ik dat er nog niet veel buizenversterkers worden gebruikt in basland. De vraag is echter of dit komt doordat buizenversterkers te duur zijn of te zwaar. Ik vind zelf dat het extra gewicht het sjouwen waard is.

Als deze versterkers in dezelfde prijsklasse zitten als een SVT zal het moeilijk worden om hier een hit van te maken. Als ze iets lichter en goedkoper zijn dan SVT's dan zou het wel iets kunnen worden. Maar waarom zien we dan ook zo weinig Traynor's/Koch's etc.

Ik denk dat de mensen die graag een buizenversterker willen in eerste instantie een AMpeg SVT willen vanwege de uitstraling en het erfgoed dat de versterker heeft. De 'muziekwereld' blijft heel erg een gevoelsmarkt die zeer irrationeel is.

Het is dan vooral te hopen dat ze met al die buizen niet hun naam eer aan gaan doen..

Maar goed, op de vraag hebben we dit nodig?

Waarschijnlijk zullen ze er wel een publiek voor trekken..En meer concurrentie op de markt betekend scherpere prijzen, dus wie weet valt er voordeel te halen..

Not my cup of thea, maar ik ben dan ook voorzien.

BTA 200, 300 and 400 Heads

Combining straightforward rotary tone controls with two pairs of additional EQ sliders for the more sonically sophisticated, Ashdown’s ABM preamp became an instant classic when it hit the bass world over a decade ago.

The BTA (Big Tube Head) partners a third-generation ABM preamp with a choice of 200, 300 and 400-Watt valve output stages for ABM sophistication with bone-crushing tube power. All the ABM features are there – EQ In/Out footswitching, variable Tube/Solid-State input stages, on-board compressor and Sub Harmonic Generator, balanced DI Output with Pre/Post EQ switching, FX loop, Tuner output and more.

Little Bastard Head

Rebellious, uncompromising and cool as f***, James Dean – and the car he nicknamed the Little Bastard – are the inspiration for this iconic, all-tube mini bass amp head. Rated at 30-Watts, the Little Bastard won’t rip your head off, but its EL84-equipped power section is more than capable enough for small gigs.
And, of course, it won’t put your back out on the way.

The Little Bastard preamp stage employs ECC83 and ECC82 tubes, and features High and Low gain inputs, front panel-mounted Effects Send and Return, rotary Bass, Middle and Treble controls with Mid Shift, Bass Shift and Bright switching, Mute switch, rotary Volume control and balanced DI output.

ik vind de hele serie wel een rommeltje. Er zijn transistor voortrappen met buizen eindtrappen, buizen voortrappen met transistor eindtrappen, en volledig buizen versterkers. Wat mij betreft moet je toch wel een buizen eindtrap hebben om het een buizenversterker te noemen, dus die 550 en spyder vallen al af. Van de transistor pre / buizen eind variant (de BTA) ken ik één vergelijkbaar model, en da's (niet verwonderlijk) van Trace Elliot. Die klinken prima, maar nog niet heel erg buizig.

Dus blijft die 427 en little bastard over, en ik begrijp niet waarom ze voor 30 en 400 watt zijn gegaan. Hoewel ze zeggen dat 30W genoeg is voor 'sommige' gigs, lijkt me dat echt te weinig, en 400W is (meestal) overkill. Beter hadden ze van die 427 ook een 200W variant gemaakt, die minstens 10 kg lichter zou zijn, en een stuk goedkoper. Dat segment is een mooi compromis (tussen de V4b en SVT, tussen de bassmans en mesa/boogie 400+-en), maar daar zitten ook de populaire Orange, Traynor (en Hiwatt 200) al...

Om Bassagents vraag te beanwoorden:
nee, dat hebben we niet nodig. Maar dat is niks nieuws, als ik zo in de winkel kijk wat voor rommel er te krijgen is

30 watt buizenpower is voor een kleine gig voldoende. niet ruim voldoen maar je hoort jezelf uitstekend.
ter vergelijk: met een 300 wat buizentop (koch) wordt mijn eden (800 watt) volledig weggeblazen.
